Via a grant from the Brevard Workforce Development Board and with support from the Florida High Tech Corridor Council, the Economic Development Commission of Florida’s Space Coast is proactively seeking to attract and retain young professionals and new college graduates to Brevard County through the development and implementation of an exciting new program - the EDC's Young Professional/New Grad Recruitment and Retention Program.

Young professionals and new college graduates are fast becoming a highly sought after labor force demographic. Factors leading to workforce concerns and increasing competition for young professionals and new grads include low unemployment rates, an increasing skills gap, and an aging workforce.

With the recruitment and retention of a quality workforce essential to local economic growth and prosperity, the YP/New Grad Program aims to increase Brevard County’s presence in the minds of YPs and new grads and to secure this popular demographic for Brevard’s labor force. To that end, the EDC launched an innovative marketing campaign including ypCONTACT.org, which targets local employers, colleges and universities nationwide, as well as YPs, new grads and future grads.

Additionally, with a significant focus on local employers, the YP/New Grad Program ensures Brevard County employers have the information and resources to attract and retain young professionals and new grads. Program initiatives benefiting employers include access to informative articles and research, seminars and education sessions, a calendar of events including career fairs and yp events, and recruitment collateral such as posters and DVD.
